Don Nichols & Bryce Beverlin II

Fortments

3-inch CD

free-improv / found-sound percussion

Free-sound found-improv. Percussion and mouths doing pleasing things together. Eloquent summations from the source:

Don Nichols and Bryce Beverlin II have been improvising together since their percussion quartet Quadrivium formed in 1996 in Chicago. They have continued their collaboration in venues such as the Spark Festival at the University of Minnesota, School of Music in Piteå Sweden, Tuesday Series for Free Improvisation in Minneapolis, E3 Series in Lafayette Indiana, and Sushi Performance and Visual Art in San Diego. Although they have primarily improvised together in live settings, Don and Bryce have also explored internet and telephone technology for long-distance performance. They have most recently forayed into studio work with the recording "Fortments," released on Bicephalic Records.

More information about Don can be found at DonNichols.net and Bryce at insidesmusic.com/bryce

Food World / Clang Quartet : Aeon

Food World / Clang Quartet : Aeon

c20 Split Cassette

Bicephalic Records 2012 - BC007

http://www.bicephalic.net/bc007.html

Food World are the harsh noise / freakout duo of Ryan Lewis (Mr. Stonecipher) and August Traeger (Somnaphon / Nipple Stools). Their side of the tape includes one track that is a high octane screeching nightmare and another track culled from a subdued live performance recorded on 4 July 2011 (US Independence Day) in Wilmington, NC.

Clang Quartet is the one-man Harsh Noise/Percussion/Performance Art show of Scotty Irving. He appears here with his patented harsh noise + percussion combo. Clang Quartet has a few releases on labels such as Hansen, RRRecords and Turgid Animal, but what he is most known for are his amazing live shows, combining harsh noise, frenetic drumming and religious performance art... definitely not to be missed.

Food World : Black Metal Jungle [digital release]

Food World : Black Metal Jungle
Bicephalic Records - BCD002
http://www.bicephalic.net/bcd002.html

This second digital release comes from Food World, a North Carolina / St. Louis based harsh noise / power electronics duo. Also, the next physical release will be a cassette split with Food World and Clang Quartet!!! I'm super excited for that release!

Release Info:
Food World is Ryan Lewis and August Traeger. On this release the duo veers away from their usual harsh noise / power electronics / freakout sound. These songs come from a session originally recorded for a Valentine's Day 2011 release, but the project was scrapped due to the somewhat sub-par recording quality. A couple of the songs were released on various compilations but the project as a whole has not seen the light of day. This release features a few of the songs from that session.

Open Call for DVD video compilation

Bicephalic Records is putting out an open call for video submissions for a DVD noise/music video compilation. I am interested in modern digital & abstract video art, databending, etc. Audio genre is open, though I'm primarily interested in glitch electronics, electro-acoustic experiments, drone, harsh noise, etc. I will choose the videos I think are the best to be on the DVD so send your best material. If there are enough submissions I may end up expanding this into two volumes.
Here are some examples of my own work:
http://youtu.be/OYwz0UQOhkg
or
http://youtu.be/WLerE-r6NoU

Guidelines:

Submit video file (AVI or Mpeg2) via online download service, ftp, etc. to A[at]Bicephalic[dot]net or email me if you want to mail in a hard copy.

video styles = digital video art, abstract, databending etc.

audio = glitch, drone, noise, etc.

length: 5 minutes maximum

Deadline : 31 March 2012

email or reply if you have any questions. I'll try to keep this post updated with any new requirements/info that I may be overlooking right now.

Ghost Volcano : rsDNA [digital release]

Ghost Volcano : rsDNA
Bicephalic Records - BCD001
www.bicephalic.net/bcd001.html

Bicephalic Records is starting a series of net releases to help fill in the gaps between physical releases. Starting things off is Ghost Volcano, a trio/collective from Baltimore, bringing a healthy dose of noise + glitch/junk electronics + circuit bent mayhem to the table.

Bio:
Ghost Volcano is a 3-piece weirdo noise collective from the Baltimore, MD area. Andy Livingston, Mike Pursely and Justin Marc Lloyd are the core members but collaborations and featured artists occur often.

Chefkirk / Somnaphon : Tender Pink Movements

Chefkirk / Somnaphon : Tender Pink Movements
Bicephalic Records - BC006 - c20 cassette split
http://www.bicephalic.net/bc006.html

Two great tastes that taste great together:
A cassette split featuring Roger Smith (Chefkirk, _whALe_pLAtE_, Insects with Tits, Control Valve netlabel) and August Traeger (Somnaphon, Nipple Stools, Food World, Bicephalic Records). For this release, Chefkirk creates a sparse minimal glitch cut-up piece of sound and Somnaphon manipulates midi data to create a smeared electro-atmosphere. Great for a nice walk in the park or for a bad walk in the street... whatever you're into.

Chefkirk is Roger H Smith is no-input mixing board is location recordings is microcassette is sampler is cpu is controlvalve.net
Recorded 2010-2011 @ HOME
